AFTER THE PROCEDURE

Recovery

After the procedure you will be kept in Recovery until you are awake.  As the sedation can affect you for the rest of the day.

You will be at the hospital till around 4 to 5 pm.

Going Home

An adult MUST collect and accompany you home and be with you for the rest of the day.  You cannot leave the hospital by bus or taxi without an adult accompanying you.

Complications

Complications from EUS are rare, but if you

develop fever,

severe abdominal pain, or

passage of red or black blood in the bowel movements,

you should come contact your doctor or go to the nearest emergency department.  

Some people may have a sore throat for a day after the procedure, but this is generally mild and resolves quickly with paracetamol if necessary.
